Abstract

Current managers have found that strategic management is a necessity for working with the complex and changeable environment. Strategic management is the process of defining strategy to attain long-run goals in the variable conditions. Strategic management process includes three stages: defining, implementing, and evaluating strategy. In the first stage, two main activities are done: strategic positioning and strategy definition. This paper concentrates on the first activity; strategic positioning. There is a four-stage technique called “Delta Technique” that points out the strategic position of a special firm. Delta Technique steps are: fuzzy test of assumptions for Delta model variables, prioritization of the accepted variables through Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchical Process, plotting radar graph for three strategies of Delta Model, and determining the strategic position in a three dimensional plot. Finally this technique is tested in the Internet Service Provider (ISP) industry.
