The main purpose of this research is to compare public accountability of public and private banking systems from customers’ point of views. By reference presented researches, related types, dimensions and variable were identified. The questionnaire based on 37 variables was distributed among customers who use the services of both banks simultaneously in Tehran.
Findings reveal that there is a difference between public & private banking regarding to public accountability. In other words, there are differences between public & private banking in regarding to legal accountability, performance, democratic, financial, ethical, and social accountability.
