Abstract
In recent decades, alongside the expansion of emerging work arrangements and the increasing prevalence of hybrid teams, transformational leadership has attracted growing scholarly attention as one of the most influential leadership approaches. Therefore, the present study aimed to identify and explain the antecedents and consequences of transformational leadership in hybrid teams. The research corpus consisted of 95 scientific publications published between 2010 and 2025. Following a systematic screening of titles, abstracts, and full texts, 44 studies were selected for final analysis. Data were analyzed using the meta-synthesis approach and thematic analysis technique. To ensure the rigor and trustworthiness of the findings, the processes of source selection, evaluation, and analysis were conducted systematically and meticulously. The reliability of the qualitative data was assessed through recoding by a second coder, yielding an inter-coder agreement rate of 91%. The findings revealed that the antecedents of transformational leadership in hybrid teams can be classified into four dimensions: leader individual factors, leader behavioral and communication factors, organizational and team factors, and environmental factors. These dimensions encompass 15 components and 43 indicators. Furthermore, the consequences of transformational leadership were categorized into three dimensions: employee individual factors, team and organizational factors, and environmental and strategic factors, comprising 11 components and 31 indicators. The findings provide a comprehensive understanding of the factors shaping transformational leadership and its outcomes in hybrid teams and offer a foundation for the development of theoretical frameworks and effective managerial practices in hybrid work environments.
