A Study of Organizational Effectiveness of High Schools in District One of Urmia City Using Parsons’ Model

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate and analyze organizational effectiveness of high schools based on the integrative approach of goal attainment–system resources and the theoretical model of Parsons with the four essential functions of the social system. The four Parsons’ indicators of organizational effectiveness of high schools which include innovation, organizational commitment, job satisfaction and organizational health (morale) are closely studied in this research. The study is a descriptive survey. One hundred and twenty seven statistical samples of the study are selected from male and female high school teachers of district one of Urmia city in the academic year 2008-2009 using the stratified random sampling.
To analyze the data, statistical methods including descriptive statistics and bivariables analysis such as t-test, Pearson’s correlation coefficient are used. the outcome of this study indicates that female schools are more effective than male schools and there is a significant relationship between organizational effectiveness of schools and its component which are innovation , morale, job satisfaction and organizational commitment. Among the independent variables, only gender has a significant relationship with organizational effectiveness, while other independent variables like age, education degree, service record do not have any significant relationship with school organizational effectiveness.
