Identification of behavioral barriers of corporate entrepreneurship (CE) in the airline of the Islamic Republic of Iran Airline company based on Q methodology

Abstract

Today, survival and value creation in organizations depend on creative and innovative thinking as well as understanding and utilization of environmental opportunities. This research attempts to introduce the organization behavioral barriers which affect the development of corporate entrepreneurship. First, with the views of different experts, various behavioral barriers of corporate entrepreneurship are discussed. Then, using Q methodology - one of the mixed descriptive research methods of exploratory type, various mentalities of certified managers of Islamic Republic Airline Company (HOMA), will be identified regarding to behavioral barriers of corporate entrepreneurship and the data will be collected using Q questionnaire (The Cronbach's α of this scale was 0.95) with the sample consisted of 58 person.
The results of factor analysis indicate that managers of commercial department believe that lack of adequate planning and tendency to try and error and short term profit are as the most important behavioral barriers of corporate entrepreneurship; but managers of planning and management services department believe that privation from benifits of their creative actions, promotion of opportunists and results-oriented appraisal are behavioral barriers and the third group who are managers of training and human resources development department expressed that managers rigid and formal control, job-oriented culture and organization’s inclination to employees’ proficiencies are the behavioral barriers of corporate entrepreneurship.
