Investigation Relationship between Leader – Member Exchange and Organizational Citizenship Behavior: Mediating Role of Psychological Empowerment and Organizational Commitment

Abstract

The aim of this research IS to investigate the relationship between Leader – member exchange and organizational citizenship behavior, and considering the mediating role of psychological empowerment and organizational commitment. The sample consisted of 250 employees of Marun Oil and Gas producing company who were selected by simple random sampling method. The instruments which used in this research were Leader – Member Exchange Scale (LMXS), Psychological Empowerment Scale (PES), Organizational Commitment Scale (OCS) and Organizational Citizenship Behavior Scale (OCBs). Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling and bootstrap. Structural equation modeling analyses indicated that the proposed model fit the data properly. The results also supported the positive effect of leader– member exchange on organizational citizenship behavior, and positive indirect effect of leader– member exchange on organizational citizenship behavior through psychological empowerment and organizational commitment.
