Abstract
Objective: Given the impact of cognitive warfare on employees’ perceptions, attitudes, and behaviors, identifying intra-organizational mechanisms that sustain organizational trust is critically important. Accordingly, this study aimed to explain the role of organizational culture in the formation of organizational trust within the context of cognitive warfare, emphasizing the mediating roles of media literacy and cognitive resilience.
Method: This descriptive–correlational study employed structural equation modeling (SEM). The statistical population consisted of employees of the Lorestan Oil Pipelines and Telecommunications Company, from whom 350 participants were selected using stratified random sampling. Data were collected using the Denison Organizational Culture Survey (2000), the Organizational Trust Questionnaire (2008), Falsafi’s Media Literacy Scale (2014), and the Cognitive Resilience Scale (2008). Data analysis was conducted using AMOS software.
Findings: The results indicated that organizational culture has a positive and significant effect on organizational trust. Moreover, media literacy and cognitive resilience significantly mediated this relationship. The proposed model demonstrated acceptable goodness-of-fit indices.
Conclusion: In the context of cognitive warfare, the effectiveness of organizational culture in sustaining trust depends on its capacity to regulate employees’ perceptions. Strengthening organizational culture alongside employees’ cognitive capacities represents a key strategy for enhancing organizational resilience against emerging cognitive threats.
